I have been teaching voice for over 5 years, working with students from age 10 and up. I have taken many music and voice classes including jazz choir and music theory. I specialize in musical theater voice, acting, and a capella singing. I am a working performer in the areas of acting, singing, improv, and conducting. Some of my professional experience includes Westminster Barbershop Choir and stand up comedy with performers such as Daniel Tosh. I love giving my students the tools to reach their personal goals and grow in their talents.

I started singing professionally at the age of fourteen. I have had leading roles in semi-professional theatre productions since I was seventeen. I have also been assistant director, musical director, choreographer, costumer and writer for many productions from West Side Story to My Fair Lady to Camelot. In the theatre I have worked with and trained children and adults of all ages. I have also conducted summer camps that were theatre workshops for children. As a 15 year old teen I was headed no where. I had no interests, and was failing my freshman year of high school.This is when I started playing the guitar and fell in love with music. As I studied under my dad who was a professional musician my mind started to open up. My attention span grew. My problem solving skills and comprehension improved to such a degree that my grades went up to the honor level in my sophomore year. I graduated with a 4.0 so I preach and stress the importance of learning a musical instrument.
I got into teaching only 4 years after I first picked up the guitar and immediately found that it was what I wanted to do for a living. Oh sure! I started late on the guitar in a family of musicians. I picked up the guitar when I was 18 years old when I found an old acoustic at my grandfather’s house. From then I was self taught listening to Punk Rock, New Wave, and learning from friends. My love for the instrument and music drove me to really apply myself to really learning how to play. I would sit and just be creative, writing my own songs and putting little back yard bands together with my cousin and friends. Then, it was time for college and had to make a decision on what to study. Music was my passion and I never really taken a lesson before. I began singing at age 7 and have since developed interests in studying pop, rock, jazz, opera, acting, and musical theater. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California and I continue to perform and study music. I recently graduated from the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship- with my Bachelor's degree in Music. I have also done several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer at churches, restaurants, and performing bands. With this experience under my belt I feel a duty to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

Jonathan is a grateful, fun and energetic voice teacher! Having been a performer in venues all over Southern California starting with Performance Riverside reaching to the prestigious Musical Theater West in Long Beach, Jonathan has a passion for teaching young performers as well. Jonathan enjoys being a teacher around the Inland Empire having taught at Valencia Elementary School grades 1-6, Broadway Experience ages 10-18 and Fontana High School grades 9-12. Currently enrolled as a full time student, Jonathan too enjoys taking voice lessons regularly because “practice makes perfect!”

Ever since the first time i picked up a guitar the hardest part was putting it down. I knew then what I was meant to do. After being self-taught for a few years I decided to start getting serious lessons. With being serious in mind, I decided to make Music my major in college. After a few years of studying with the music program at Riverside Community College, I was already composing music for the schools string ensembles.

With many years of experience in both piano and vocal performance in Los Angeles and in England and my teaching in the Inland Empire, my students experience a rich and rewarding time of learning.

I received my formal education in piano performance from the Royal Academy Of Music in London and in Rhodesia. I also attended the Kwanagoma College Of music in Rhodesia and studied organ under the famous Dr. Olaff Axelson of Germany.

I also attended the University Of Redlands where I studied piano pedagogy.

I studied voice with Suzann Luckather of the Alhambra Academy Of Music in Los Angeles and also with Maestra Marya Basaraba, director of the California Philharmonic 200 voice chorus.

I further studied with the international vocal coach and concert pianist, Armin Gazulamian.

My current vocal coach is the world famous tenor, Guiltiero Negrini of the Metropolitan Opera House New York.

I taught myself how to play piano at the age of 17, and at 18 I taught myself how to play the guitar. Over the last 5 years I have learned everything from music theory to composition to songwriting and recording. I know what it means when students say "I'm too old to learn", well I'm here to tell you that, that is not the case. In music, as long as there is passion, the artist in you will become alive and help you achieve whatever your goal may be in music. I am here to help you realize not only your playing potential, but guide you into not just becoming a guitar player, piano player, but a musician. I have performed professionally at Disneyland, was former musical director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and have toured professionally with many groups; including Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and the AlcoSKAlics.

Teaching has been a passion of mine since the mid-'90s. I have taught students that were as young as 5 years old to 80 years old. I can teach and play a variety of instruments, including: keyboards, bass, drums, latin percussion, brass instruments and acoustic guitar. I also teach compostion, arranging, and conducting.

Many of my formers students have gone on to become professional musicians, teachers, and recording engineers.
