Rebecca S. Baltimore, MD

Healthy singing applies to all singing, whether it be opera or pop songs. My library is more suited towards Broadway/opera/art song, but I do have some of the more modern hits as well.

About Rebecca

I love music and I love teaching! I started out with a passion for musical theater, and eventually I developed a love for opera and art songs. I love how singing requires both physical awareness and mental focus, and I will strive to teach the balance of these aspects. Whether you want to gear up for karaoke or learn how to sing an Italian aria, I can offer you advice and training to help you meet your goals. I've had a great deal of experience reaching out to students of all ages. I taught undergraduates while finishing my masters degree in Chicago, and while performing outreach with the San Diego Opera and Anchorage Opera. Outside of music, I love competing in triathlons! *** Lesson Details *** I will cater each lesson to meet the student's individual needs. Our lessons ...

I started taking lessons with Rebecca over 2 years ago. It was one of the best decisions of my life. Rebecca is a fantastic teacher, very energetic, patient, encouraging and fun. I feel like I am a whole different singer than I was 2 years ago. Before, I used to like singing. But now, I love it, and I have the confidence I need to sing with friends and feel comfortable with my voice. If you are considering taking singing lessons, Rebecca is the way to go! :)

Thank you Rebecca!

Can't thank her enough...

My daughter really enjoys singing lessons with Rebecca! She is fun and challenging. My daughter's confidence in her own singing ability has improved since she started lessons. She no longer hides behind other students during school concerts. She stands out and looks beautiful and confident while she sings. Rebecca works hard to make sure you get the best possible experience. She is definitely respected and admired for her singing and teaching abilities.

Wilma Evangeline B. Bowie, MD

I've been teaching chorus and doing private voice lessons for almost 10 years. For the past years, my students in private singing lessons have gained a basic understanding of vocal anatomy and become more skilled in correct breathing technique, moving between vocal registers and producing balanced tone. I usually select an age appropriate song for my students to learn for each session, and each skill the students learned during the lessons will be applied to the singing of that song.

Ms.Wilma is awesome! She is patient and knowledgeable in Violin. Her expertise helped to identify that the music store provided our daughter with the wrong size violin. Once that was corrected, her playing got better. Our daughter, 4 years old, loves Ms. Wilma and is very excited for each lesson with her.

Wilma is a wonderful instructor. She is extremely patient and will go over the materials until the student understand and can play the lesson as required. I was able to sit and observe her in the lesson and was able to assist my son when he was practicing. She is always prompt and ready to go when we arrived. We never had to wait she was always prepared. My child is 6 and Wilma was able to get him focused on what he needed to do in class and he was able to replicate the lesson at home.

Music Theory and Music Performance

Ms. Wilma's enthusiasm for life and music shines through in her instrumental playing and teaching style. She shows a strong proficiency in many music genres and can teach different kinds of musical instruments.

She's reliable, experienced, professional, and easy to be around. One of her main strengths is her ability to convey musical thoughts in a way that is meaningful, constructive and easily understood.
I really enjoyed how she have enriched my ability to think about musical concepts, discuss theories in music, and listen to different types of music.

Patient, kind and effective teacher

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Robert! We've worked together for over a year and I can say my voice has improved as well as secondary benefits like my breathing. What I love about Robert is how he teaches, he helps my confidence, courage and faith in my abilities. In my work I use my voice everyday, often I am speaking in front of a large crowd. The lessons have really helped with speech, volume and enunciation. BTW I do all my lesson with Skype, which I believe is a great way to do it.

Great teacher!

I took guitar lessons from Rob for 3 1/2 years when he lived in Atlanta. I learned a lot from him and really enjoyed our lessons. He's a great teacher and I would still be taking lessons with him if he lived here!

Fantastic mentor!

Rob instructed my daughter in both acoustic guitar and voice for nearly four years. His creative technique and wealth of musical knowledge helped her to increase her abilities, raise her confidence, and foster her own love of all things musical. With Rob's influence, she is now able to play multiple instruments and has fully overcome her performance anxiety. Rob is an amazing musician in his own right and is fully willing to share his wisdom with his students. I would highly recommend him to anyone who truly loves music and wishes to discover and extend their own latent abilities.

Although I strongly believe ANYONE can sing well, it can be difficult to teach yourself, so having someone who can listen to you critically is really important. In any genre, we need to know how to sing higher (with ease), how to sing in tune, and how to reduce tension. Each genre has its own musical style, vowel sounds, lyrical choices, and song structure, so I combine those elements with vocal technique when teaching students who are interested in learning to sing.

About Shannon

Hello! I'm Shannon, and I would love to teach you about music! I have an extensive musical background in both performance and education. I attended George Mason University and the world renowned College of Music at the University of North Texas. I am also an award winning bassist and singer, having performed at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Rams Head Tavern, and more. I specialize in teaching contemporary styles (pop, rock, jazz, musical theater, etc.). I have taught many successful young vocalists and instrumentalists and believe in a positive, fun, confidence building approach. My students learn music theory, warm ups, and technique in conjunction with songs so they can apply musical concepts in a practical way.

About Rich

I want to teach YOU the language of music! That's right, music is a LANGUAGE. Perhaps you've never thought about it, but just like English, music has a vocabulary, and a system of methods to put things together. Just like a language, ANYONE can learn it. Ever taken lessons? I have, and I know first hand how boring it can be. You learn to read music notation, learn some Hanon exercises, maybe even a few songs...but it just doesn't click. Well learning the language of music is the missing ingredient! Once you speak it, you can create! From your very first lesson with me, you will have fun creating music. ABOUT ME: What qualifies me to teach? As a full-time musician and teacher in the DMV, I know how to APPLY music theory. I've been performing for over 15 years and ...
