I have been teaching for a few years now. I started to teach professionally after graduating Hollywood's Guitar Insitute of Technology program with an Associates in Music Performance. I specialize in just about every style and am known for my shred style guitar playing.

I started playing guitar at age 11, taking lessons at the local music studio in Hackensack, NJ. I became heavily influenced by The Beatles after hearing their music and as a teenager played in local rock groups, having some success being in the bands Jona's Ark and The Yorkshire Pudding, opening for artists Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, John Mayall and backing up Gary U.S. Bonds. I started playing piano at 19 when I took a group piano class in college. I attended Berklee College of Music and studied guitar with Bill Leavitt and Pat Metheny. That's where I started learning about all the great jazz artists from Duke Ellington to Miles Davis, Charlie Parker and Wes Montgomery to name a few. Jason began playing guitar 20 years ago at the age of 13. Jason has two degrees in music. A Associates of the Arts degree in classical guitar from County College of Morris and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from New York University. Jason began teaching guitar at the age of 17! He has been teaching ever since. To go a long with a busy roster of guitar, bass, and theory students Jason also performs live and does a lot of recording session work. Gregg has been involved in music for almost his entire life. He began with the saxophone in middle school, where he took lessons and played in the school band, orchestra, and jazz band. He was interested in many other instruments at the time; piano and clarinet lessons shortly followed, but he did not develop his skills on guitar until much later. In seventh and eighth grade, Gregg was accepted into the Region II Intermediate Band, an intercollegiate ensemble for middle school students, where he performed tenor saxophone both years.

In high school, Gregg participated in the freshman Concert Band (tenor sax), Symphonic Band (tenor sax sophomore year, bassoon senior year), Wind Ensemble (tenor sax junior and senior years), and the Marching Band (tenor sax freshman and junior years, baritone sax sophomore year). I am a music educator, classically trained with an advanced performance degree. As a soloist and collaborative musician, I have performed professionally in ensembles, bands and orchestras both here and abroad. With a high degree of knowledge and proficiency, I teach proper technique and practice strategies, music notation, theory, rhythm and phrasing, while adapting teaching approaches to match the needs of each student. I share a love of music with my students and it gives me great pride to hear each student develop their own musical voice.

I am a music educator, performer, and student. At the young at of 26 I've has gained many in-depth experiences in the multiple areas of our musical world. I've taken lessons with some of my idols, played venues I had only dreamed of as child, and I am currently managing and performing with my own group MoPhat. With 14 years of experience in playing various musical genres (Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, and R&B), l am well prepared to teach aspiring guitarists of all ages and levels.

Guitar studies have been an effective catalyst for learning responsibility, how to communicate clearly, and how to work effectively both in groups and solo. It is these lessons that I wishes to pass down to students through music education. I should also mention that this is good clean fun as well. I've made my career as a performing musician and teacher for many years. I've enjoyed touring the Northeast U.S. and also the U.K. What fun it's been meeting different people and experiencing their love of music! My band specializes in rock, blues, and originals, too. There's even a little jazz influence, coming from my years of private study, most recently with Ms. Leni Stern, an extraordinary professor of music at NYU. I love to keep an open mind with my students regarding playing styles and approaches to learning, and I'll encourage you to do the same! I grew up in a musical home, my father was a rock and roll and soul session drummer throughout the '60's and '70's in New York. I picked up the guitar at 11 years old and started taking lessons. After studying classical and jazz throughout high school I attended William Paterson University from 1994 - 1997, majoring in Music Education and studying with jazz guitar guru Vic Juris and classical guitarist Rich Jacobowski.

In 1997, I moved to Brooklyn and cut my teeth in the NYC R&B and rock club scene playing in the band Sole Pocket, and with various jazz combos at many other clubs including the Blue Note and the Knitting Factory. In 2003 I returned to college at CCNY (city college of New York), majoring in Jazz Performance and studying with Ornette Coleman alum, Kenny Wessel. I also formed my Hip Hop band, Spokinn Movement, and started my long standing weekly Hip Hop event, Freestyle Mondays (still running after 8 years!) in the East Village. I enjoy helping my students maximize their potential as musicians. Whether their longing is to simply enjoy guitar as a recreational pastime, or they desire (or have) a career in performance, I endeavor to help my students achieve their personal musical goals. You are encouraged to strive to do your part to the best of your ability: that is, consistent and regular practice. Discipline is vital to progress, and without it, the experience would be shallow and unsatisfying. Hello. My name is Michael and I have been passionate about music since I was a very young. When I became a teenager I started taking guitar lessons and as soon as I could play a few chords, I joined a heavy metal band. I spent endless hours honing my craft to play fast and tight with other members. I have recorded original music several times. I still enjoy playing heavy music to this day but now I have expanded my interests to blues,folk, and acoustic variations. I still perform weekly in various bands. I have been playing for over twenty years and have over four years of teaching experience for beginner and intermediate level guitar students of all ages.
