Native of Washington, D.C. began at the age of seven on the piano. Singing in church choirs and the D.C. Youth Chorale. Began instruction on the Viola in the D.C. Youth Orchestra program. Attended the Duke Elling Performing Arts High School in their inaugural year.

About Me

Welcome! My name is Sarah, and I would love to be your dance instructor.

I have years of experience teaching all types of dance, and I continue to do it because it's the best job in the world. I currently teach all types of ballroom dance styles, including:

General social dancing, both Latin and American
Competitive-style dancing, both Latin and American
Special occasion dances (First dances, Father-Daughter and Mother-Son dances, reunions and cruise prepations, etc.)

My lessons last either 45 minutes or 60 minutes, and each is tailored to your individual needs and situation. I always teach with both a short-term and long-term plan in mind to maximize the learning you get out of each lesson. I teach both couples and singles (men and women), and promise to allay any lingering fears or nervousness that you might have about finally tackling dance. Dancing is easy and fun, and EVERYONE should know how!

I am willing to travel to your home or chosen space, and I bring everything I need with me to provide a professional, fun learning experience.

My professional career as a belly dance teacher and performer began in 1988, when I began performing regularly in the DC area and teaching weekly classes in Virginia.

I continued working as a professional Oriental Dancer in the D.C. area’s Middle Eastern supper clubs until 2007; this experience brought authenticity to my performance and dance style.

Because I've taught every week for over 25 years, I've become an expert in educating students in essential elements of dancing, even those with no background in dance or music.

Hello, my name is Gilda and I am originally from Columbus, Ohio, the Buckeye State. “I love helping my community and others through education. My specialty is helping you incorporate healthy lifestyle changes through dance. I'm also passionate about education and I have been crocheting since I was 11. During my first crochet competition, I won 1st place. I have always been an honor student since I can remember. I was inducted into the National Honor Society and received an academic scholarship to Otterbein College in 1996.

Gilda is a graduate of Devry University's Keller Business School of Management with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and holds a National Group Fitness Certification through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She began her career as a Group Fitness Instructor at the Jewish Community Center in Rockville, Maryland. In 2013, Gilda became the C.E.O. of Jamestown Dance and Fitness, LLC.
