I'm Esther, a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself piano and singing in a choir at the age of 9. I moved to the U.S. in 1992 and studied music for 10 years receiving my B.M. & M.A. in music at California State University of Sacramento. I studied and trained with Claudia Kitka & Jackie Victorino for voice and Kirsten Smith, Joan McDe, & Angel Mamn for piano. I have performed many solo concerts in the U.S. as well as South Korea.

I find a student's strengths and weaknesses using various ways to encourage each student. I am very patient, kind, flexible, and enthusiastic and I love working with children as much as adults. I strongly support basic skills: sight-reading, pitch and tone.

I have 26 years experience teaching kids and adults private piano and 6yrs voice coaching (early period to contemporary). I speak fluent Korean and English.

I am a brass, voice and percussion artist and teacher, local to the Sacramento area, specializing in many styles such as Classical, Jazz, and Pop. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Tuba Performance from CSU Sacramento. During my time here in Sacramento I have held the position of Principal Tuba for the Folsom Symphony for the 2009 - 2011 seasons. I'm currently the lead trombone for the Harley White Jr. Jazz Orchestra and lead trombone for the Element Brass Band. In addition, I was privileged to win multiple downbeat awards with the Sacramento State Jazz Singers where I sung bass and was often a featured soloist. I am even featured as the bass singer in Selfless Cold and Composed on the Ben Folds' College a cappella album released in 2009. As well, I have been given the great opportunity to play in several professional drum lines (most notably that of the San Francisco 49ers "Niner Noise" and Golden State Warriors aftershock". So, here it is, a little bit about myself and my music background:

I am originally from Guanajuato, Mexico and in my last year of high school, I decided to take private piano lessons with a local teacher and it was during this time period that I learned classical pieces by Beethoven and Mozart. I also took music notation and I tried a hand at composing, discovering a new way to communicate in terms of music.

After moving to the USA, I resume my music education, learning new concepts on classical, blues and pop styles, as well as chord progression and accompaniment pieces. After a year and after completing the teacher training program, I...

Gaw is a voice artist, music teacher, and arranger local to the Sacramento area, specializing in styles such as Jazz, Pop, R&B, and Classical. She began her music experience with the baritone at age 12, and eventually learned to play the violin, trumpet, French horn, piano, and percussion. She received her B.M. in Vocal Jazz Performance from California State University of Sacramento which she studied under world-class jazz artists Julia Dollison and Kerry Marsh.

Gaw sings locally in various Sacramento venues, such as Shady Lady, JB lounge and Capital Garage. She won multiple Downbeat Awards with vocal jazz ensembles at Sacramento State. She performed with Schola Cantorum under the direction of Don Kendricks. Gaw played brass with the championship level drum and bugle corps, Mandarins and Blue Devils A. She performs currently with the world class choir RSVP (Reconciliation Singers Voices of Peace).

I have been a piano teacher for over 35 years (17 years here in Gold River). I wasn't planning on being a teacher but one day I was playing "The Entertainer" with a window open and a neighbor came over and asked if I could teach him to play like that. I started him on lessons, he told a friend who signed her kids up, and the rest is history! I've had a full load since then and it has been a blast! I studied piano lessons for 8 years with a music conservatory teacher, and another 2 years with the Sac State Professor. I work in an elementary school doing non-directive play with at-risk students. I am also involved in several children's charities and even started my own charity.

What an honor it has been to come alongside people who want to experience music for the past ten years! I have taught ages four to sixty and every personality type you could imagine. My favorite part about starting a new student is the immediate quest to determine the students' interests and learning styles. It is my ultimate goal to find out what motivates my students...the last thing I ever want is for a student of mine to be afraid of the piano. I am aware that the piano is not "the instrument" for every individual, but it is my desire to create a positive experience nonetheless.

My students give recitals for family and friends bi-annually and the recitals are often themed. For example, our December recital is always Christmas music of all kinds and I encourage the students to be involved in all aspects of the recital, including designing program covers, passing out programs, playing duets and solos, and even speaking in front of the audience.

It is a pleasure to meet you! A little introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy; I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven, and I just reconnected with my first teacher again on Facebook, what a lovely world this is.

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves, working with music that delights and educates.

At age I 12 picked up a guitar and fell in love with the instrument. I began with an obsession with Metallica and related bands, which really inspired me to play along and learn that genre of music. That later evolved to a big interest in classical and jazz music as well as an interest in music theory. I believe the pitfall of a lot of musicians learning music theory “limits” you as a musician, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Whether you want to write, play in a band or just noodle around there’s a spot for you!

I have studied under Mark Simons of the San Francisco Guitar quartet from 2008 -2010 and completed the music program at Diablo Valley College in June of 2010, which includes extensive coursework in Music theory, Piano and Guitar and recently been accepted to Cal State East Bay where I will complete and receive a BA in music.

Hi Everyone, my name is Phil and I am the owner and music director of Pianos N' Strings Music Learning Studio. I have been teaching piano and guitar lessons for 20 years to students ages 4 thru adult of all levels. I am very patient, with an easy-going personality, and custom make my lessons to each student. I do use a curriculum which allows us to monitor our progress as we develop a solid foundation in music. Lesson books, theory, and technique are the main emphasis of my program. I strive to uncover the talent and joy that each student has within them for music and teach in an environment that is low-stress and visually professional.
