Elizabeth has been praised for her “clear ringing soprano voice”, excellent comic timing, and “warm and enlightening” performances (The News Journal of Wilmington, DE). Her G &S performance credits include the roles of Patience (Patience), Yum-Yum (The Mikado), Rose Maybud (Ruddigore), Phyllis (Iolanthe), and Fiammetta (Gondoliers). Additionally, she has pioneered roles in new operas, including Gwendolyn in The Crowded House at the 2010 Philly Fringe Festival and Zelda in Black Horses with OperaDelaware at the 2009 Wilmington Fringe Festival. She “tackled the challenging score with gusto, her beautiful soprano and excellent diction winning in even the highest vocal points” (The Community News of Wilmington, DE).
Elizabeth holds an M.M. in vocal performance from West Virginia University, where she was featured in numerous WVU Opera Theatre productions and was the soprano soloist with WVU Choirs in Faure's Requiem and Handel's Lord Nelson Mass. While at WVU, Elizabeth resumed taking lessons at the piano, which she had previously studied for many years, and exceeded the piano proficiency level required by the university. She also holds a B.A. in music and international studies from Emory University. Elizabeth has studied and performed internationally, both at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, where she was the recipient of the Lemmonds Scholarship, and at the Bel Canto program in conjunction with L’Arena di Verona opera company in Verona, Italy.
As a graduate assistant at WVU, Elizabeth taught voice lessons to music education and performance majors as well as a course on vocal pedagogy. After graduating, she served as adjunct faculty, in which capacity she taught vocal repertoire and opera theater. She has maintained a private studio since 2005, in which she instructs students in voice and piano.
Piano, Music Theory
My name is Tim D. I am 27 years old and have a life long Musical devotion. I started playing the piano and drums at around 5 yrs of age. My grandfather was my main teacher as he was a working musician himself in traveling bands. When I was in junior high school I started to attend Settlement School of Music and studied there throughout my early teenage years. I served in the US army for four years and was able to use those benefits to pay for schooling when I got out. Now I am a double major in Music Education and Theory at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. I am currently studying piano under Dr Yanovitsky there at Temple also as my major is piano concentrated. I am looking to build my teaching resume and work with some motivated students and give them my inspiration and influence.
Learn to love music from the inside out--by understanding the fundamentals so you can create and recreate music for personal enjoyment and to share with others. It is my privilege to join children, youth and adults in developing your musical talents and gifts. I teach beginner-intermediate piano students. I tailor the focus and styles of music to your needs and preferences, and include training for success. I am life-long musician with a music degree (vocal and keyboards) from Messiah College. I also direct the music and worship ministries for my congregation.
I do have a dog at my home studio. He's friendly, but can be contained in another part of the house if that is helpful to you.
Violin, Music Performance, Fiddle
I began violin lessons at age five, and was requested by the youth conductor to join the Palm Beach Youth Symphony a year later. For eight consecutive years, I performed with many other youth orchestras and served as concert mistress several times. At the age of thirteen, I auditioned for and joined The Venice Symphony during the 2004-2005 season and was a part of their ensemble for seven consecutive seasons, including the position as assistant principal. In addition to the Venice Symphony, I have also performed with the Sarasota Pops for two seasons, The South Shore Symphony Orchestra as assistant concert mistress and as concert mistress, and Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra. Recently, I relocated to the South Philly and am now performing with the Delaware County Symphony in Aston, PA, and the Rose Tree Pops located in Media, PA. Over the years I have had performing experience with violin duets and trios with a classical guitarist on a number of occasions for weddings, Christmas shows, and restaurant events. Some of my performance venues include the 800 Bay Restaurant and Club, the Four Seasons, the Sugarhouse Casino, and the Pyramid Club.
In addition to my musical career, I am also heavily training in the sport of ice dancing. Currently, my brother and ice dance partner, Stephen, and I are competing in the top level with goals to compete nationally and internationally. Through my experience as a performer both in music and on the ice, I can give to each student not only the ability to create music through the violin, but also the mental ability to handle performing and competitive atmospheres.
Piano, Music Performance
Hello to prospective students:
My name is Grace. I've graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2002 with a BM Music( Keyboard). I have been playing the piano for 27 years. I have been classically trained but can work with the student's individual interests. I value each student's unique interest and temperament and will work to tailor to those individual needs. I can teach piano from beginner to advanced from all ages. I foster a mature student-teacher relationship that goes beyond just music and lesson; thereby, nurturing and building character, scholarship, and love for the Arts.
Bass Guitar, Guitar, Classical Guitar, Mandolin, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting
I am 35 years old, and have been a musician for over 25 years. I began, like many, playing in my middle school band. I attended a Performing Arts School throughout my high school years, where I studied Classical and Jazz Guitar, Music Theory, Ear Training, and many other facets of music. I also studied privately with various guitar instructors, most notable Kyle Hildenbrand, a Berklee grad and film scorer for Universal Studios. In college I also took education and psychology classes which have proven very helpful in my approach to teaching.
I have performed in many ensembles and bands, playing both cover songs and writing original music. Blues, country, hard-rock, and even a jazz quartet. Currently I write for and perform in a folk - rock trio.
Playing in so many different circumstances, has been very beneficial working as a teacher. My students are all very different, not only in the way that they learn but also in the style of music they wish to play. I take pride in being able to adapt to each student, teaching them with the most appropriate method.
