"Anne-Marie has been both a motivating and inspiring instructor to my daughter. Kes is spurred..."Soprano Anne-Marie is a soloist throughout North America and Europe, most recently as the soprano soloist in the Bach Mass in B Minor with the Bach Collegium San Diego, a chorus and period instrument ensemble under the direction of Ruben Valenzuela. Anne-Marie has been teaching voice and numerous other music classes in Southern California for that past 10 years with a specialty in beginning to intermediate voice lessons for students of any age! . She focuses on the individual in her voice lessons, taking into consideration that no two singers are alike and each has his/her own needs. It is important for each student to create and stick to his/her own goals. In her studio, Anne-Marie employs a classically trained method and approach to her teaching, which in turns gives singers the opportunity to sing any style of music.
Since 2004, Anne-Marie has sung in Germany at the annual Bachakademie European Music Festival in Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling, performing works including the Bach Mass in B Minor, Mozart Mass in C Minor, Mendelssohn Elijah, and Britten War Requiem. A frequent performer of early music, Anne-Marie’s repertoire includes numerous cantatas of J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, and other composers of the Renaissance and Baroque eras.
Anne-Marie is also a member and soloist with Cappella Gloriana, a San Diego based professional chamber choir. She has performed in numerous other ensembles and festivals including the Agora Festival of New Music in Paris, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella New Music series, Red Fish Blue Fish percussion ensemble, Festival Ensemble Stuttgart, Sinatra Opera Workshop, St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir, Sacramento Opera, and in past seasons with the La Jolla Symphony Chorus. Anne-Marie is also a soprano section leader at St. James-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla and has been a featured soloist in the renowned St. James Music Series. Equally at home with contemporary music, she frequently enjoys premiering works written by her colleagues and professors. She is featured on an upcoming recording of music by Roger Reynolds and just released a CD on the Tzadik label with works by Derek Keller. Anne-Marie is a Doctor of Musical Arts Candidate at the University of California, San Diego, where she also teaches. She studies with Carol Plantamura and holds an M.A. from UCSD and a B.A. in Music from Loyola Marymount University. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis which includes research in synaesthesia and the connection between early and contemporary vocal music techniques.

I am a classical teacher of voice, using a classical approach in my lessons. It is important to me for my students to have a basic, underlying classical background to be able to sing whichever style best suits them following this knowledge.
At the beginner to intermediate level of voice, I demonstrate various musical exercises to the student, along with choosing songs and arias that are most suitable for each student. Once a student is more advanced, I use song and aria repertoire best catered to the individual voice and preference.
