Ryan's career in music has included work as a teacher, composer, performer, and scholar. After studying music at Hendrix College, he pursued historical and critical studies in the graduate musicology program at the University of Maryland. Since then, he has taught voice and piano lessons privately as well as in schools and community theaters, working with both young people and adults. Ryan is also a composer of songs and music for the theater.
