About Me

Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Tenor/Counter-Tenor Roberto began his professional career as an untrained Rock/Pop singer. Upon experiencing vocal fatigue he began serious voice study with master teacher Fred Carama(LA/NYC) to build a solid foundation to repair and strengthen his voice.  Subsequently, inspired by his sister Roxane (Chicago B'Way, As The World Turns), he now continues a Musical Theater, Opera, and Pop/Rock career that has taken him across the USA and Eastern Europe. He has performed with such stars as Placido Domingo, Denyce Graves at Los Angeles Opera, Bobby McFerrin, Sarah Brightman, and Keith Lockhart on the the Boston Pops US Christmas Tour.  Roberto's extended vocal range(3 octaves), humor, characterizations, and training have earned him more than 40 roles in opera, musical theater, children's theater, and classic theater.  He often appears as a classical concert/orarorio soloist and annually as a Guest Artist Lecturer for NYU School of Television.  Throughout his exciting career, Roberto has taught private and group voice lessons for children and adults in LA and NYC.  His enthusiasm for teaching voice and performing grows stronger each day.

The Roberto Voice Studio Philosophy: Teaching students to teach themselves in a cooperative, professional, creative, and supportive environment.

"My joy of teaching singing comes from the fact that we are all unique. Therefore allowing for endless new, exciting challenges and rewards for both student and teacher alike. Our instrument for singing is likewise unique in that we carry our instrument with us at all times. It is constantly affected by everything that we do, say, feel, think, eat, etc. With this idea in mind, I encourage each student to learn about their instrument and the fundamentals of how it works. These concepts are explored while having a fun time. I love to make people smile and laugh while learning. Students will learn and develop, among others, the following:

- Proper breathe support

- Correct body alignment

- Extended vocal range

- Elimination of vocal fatigue

- Gain confidence

- Strong musicianship skills

- Song interpretation skills

- Skills to succeed in any medium(school, career/work, etc.)

"My teaching approach combines the elements of operatic Bel Canto style, speech pathology/vocal rehabilitation, body alignment/awareness(Physiosynthesis), and essential audition/performance techniques to allow the singer to maximize their full artistic potential. Students learn simple healthy, and extremely efficient exercises and techniques that are easily practiced anywhere, under any condition. This approach facilitates the development of healthy habits and a self awareness that nurtures confidence, vocal strength and agility, and the means to continually grow and improve on there own.  I believe that anyone can learn to sing well with commitment and a desire to learn. If you have these, you will amaze yourself and countless others for the rest of your life!" -Roberto
