Kate has been playing trumpet for 13 years. In 2007 she graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN with a Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance. She has studied with Dr. Lynn Erickson, Mark Gould and (currently with) Dr. David Baldwin. Currently Kate plays with the West Bank Brass, a brass quintet she formed in 2006. She plays frequently with the St. Paul Civic Symphony, and has performed with groups such as the Camp Snoopy Cruisers of the Mall of America, VocalEssence, the Golden Valley Orchestra, and the Blue Lake International Band. She has toured nationally and internationally with the Augsburg Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra.

Kate has been happily teaching music lessons for the past five years. She has taught brass lessons to students of all ages and ability levels in (primarily) individual settings as well as group settings. She also has experience tutoring music theory.

I teach beginning-advanced trumpet lessons. I also teach beginning trombone, euphonium, French horn, and tuba lessons!

It's very important to me to find out student what it is they want out of their lessons up front. whether it be just beginning to play, increasing their range, learning to read rhythm better, etc. I have formed my own theories and lesson styles, devoting time to technical and musical studies, as well as the individual goals of the student. I also like to incorporate music theory into my lessons. I feel strongly that this makes every student a much stronger musician. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
