This instructor passed a criminal background check.
I began playing guitar at age 15, taking inspiration from bands such as Nirvana, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. Throughout high school, I fronted a popular rock/metal/funk band (sounds crazy, right?) taking on guitar, vocal, and songwriting responsibilities, so I know what it takes to bring a show together. After gigging central PA, I moved out to further my studies at Musicians Institute, located in Hollywood, CA. Since my time in LA, I have worked with various musicians of every style. I've been learning, writing, doing sessions, and overall just expanding my musical horizons. I've always had love for an infectious groove, and now I'm digging into new territory such as Blues and Jazz, forcing me to develop my learning capabilities, which I am now able to pass onto students.
I love teaching beginning students, I believe that a proper musical foundation and knowledge of the instrument is what really helps a student excel. I can teach you about electric guitar, twang guitar, theory, ear training, sight reading, music notation, fretboard comprehension, musicianship, vocal accompaniment, guitar effects, maintenance, funk guitar, blues, country, reggae and rock. My Lesson Plan: I view my students as individuals, meaning that each individual has a different set of needs. All students have strengths and weakness's and we will focus on confronting those weakness's while building upon your strengths. After I have first met with the student, I create a specialized lesson plan that focus's on what the student wants, but also on skills that I think the student needs to develop as well. I provide jam tracks, charts and various handouts so that the student has something to practice and have a little fun with until our next lesson. I provide a stress free environment, and I am a very patient instructor. I do not get upset if a student is struggling, instead, I help identify the problem and then from there we find a solution. Your private lessons should be fun, not intimidating, so if you're looking for an fun, easy going, responsible instructor who loves music, then you should give me a call!
