"Teri is a wonderful teacher. My 6 year old really responds well to her instruction and support...."Teri, Ed.M. is a recording artist and pro vocal coach with record credits, and national press (Women Who Rock Magazine). She and her act have pro endorsements by Sennheiser and Crate. Her credits include: 12" dance/club hit, BMI songwriter, student of Raz Kennedy (Bobby McFerrin, Counting Crows) and many others.
Her philosophy is to use your body as an instrument and sing without "efforting". Do you have pitch problems, breathing, or lack of stamina? Great singers have a technique that supports their talent. Learn from an experienced pro and get a technique that really works. The difference is in the training.
Artists to beginners are welcome. Students will learn the basics and get their voice in shape for themselves, a solo or band project, auditions (American Idol etc...) or more! Teri offers basic to advanced technique -- breathing, stamina, resonance, pitch problems, and more! All rock & pop styles, all levels. Also, specialty in vocal problems.
*Solid vocal technique, get in control of breathing, pitch, expand/improve vocal range and presence. *Learn "non-efforting" -- how to sing using your body as an instrument.
*Learn performing and recording technique.
Additional Credits: Teri is a published writer and has a written articles on singing and performance for Music Connection magazine, Guitar Player and many others. TDB (Teri's Band) performed in Sennheiser's booth at NAMM Jan 2005. Two songs "Better" and "The Road" appear in Independent film "Rutland USA" currently in release on the East Coast. Film selling well on DVD. The song "The Road" was added to Creative Line's Great Song Chart. Performances: BMI Acoustic Showcase, industry events; Tower Records in-stores (Sunset and Sherman Oaks), 2005 and 2007 NAMM Show, House of Blues and Viper Room monthly gig. Nominated Best Female Vocalist 2005 All Access Music Awards. 2008: Currently recording a pop/r&b/rap project with multi-platinum selling legendary rapper Father MC.
Teri has professional rates but works with students on a sliding scale. Payment is usually on a per month basis, but will work with student's circumstances. Teri offers flexibility with scheduling to accomodate students various needs including day/eves and weekends. Studio is in a convenient westside LA location. 48 hour notice required for cancellations.
Students can expect a number of benefits and results from working with Teri, depending on where they are when they start and how far they'd like to go (beginner to recording professional).
1. Increased breath control and a solid technique for building and maintaining breath control onstage and in the recording studio. (This is a major problem area -- fatigue, strain, & vocal nodes can come from not having this under control.)
2. A vocal sound that is both commercially viable and individual; radio/record quality presence, pitch control, resonance, and a variety of vocal techniques (creeks, riffs etc...) to allow the song to ebb and flow as well as a unique style imprint. Both must be working.
3. A solid technique that they can fall back on and build from.
4. Confidence and stage presence: training that allows students to be focused onstage and self-correct if they get into difficulties.
5. What steps it will take to get to the next level and set a plan for getting there.
All of my students experience more and more effortless singing, vocal presence and confidence. They have a real, practical way to make changes in their singing that will impact their sound and performance profoundly.
