I began playing guitar at the age of 11 in Russia, where I attended music school studying with excellent teachers in professional environment. Then I started playing piano as well as a part of my music school program.
My musical education continued in Israel where my family moved in mid 90's. Private lessons with Mr.Y.Shreyer and Mr.Y.Zarbib followed by studies with them at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Music Academies, where I earned my BMus in classical guitar performance.
I also participated to numerous master classes with leading guitar performers such as Roland Dyens, Arnaud Dumond, Reuben Seroussi and others.
My teaching career started almost 20 years ago being an assistant of my teacher Mr. V.Pegov at the same music school I attended earlier.
I have been teaching since then privately and at music studios in Israel and United States.
Based in Irvine since 2003, I offer in-home lessons in surrounding areas as well as lessons in my studio.
Most of my students stay with me for years while experience growing musical ability and knowledge.
I am also an active performer and composer, my repertoire includes various music for Spanish guitar (classical, Latin American, jazz standards and more).
I enjoy teaching of all age groups, from 6-7 years old kids to professional aduls.
I am a patient and flexible instructor, who always designs his approach and strategy based on goals, ability and interests of each particular student.
My primary instrument is classical (Spanish) nylon-string guitar but I also teach acoustic (steel-string) guitar and beginning piano.
I usually begin my classical guitar lessons with either Christopher Parkening or Frederick Noad guitar methods.
For acoustic guitar, I use either Hal-Leonard guitar method or "Everybody's guitar method" by F.Groeber, D.Hoge, R.Sanchez
And, finally, beginning piano lessons require Bastien or Alfred piano libraries.
As my students advance, I advise them about books and musical pieces or songs they can obtain from local music and online stores.
My lessons include music theory, sight reading and ear training as well.
I encourage my students to improvise and compose music and help them to write it in appropriate way and develop their musical ideas.
Also, I prepare them for various examinations and tests upon request.
All of my students have an opportunity to perform at recitals and showcases 2-3 times a year.
