About Me

Christina has been playing the piano and violin for 16 years. She graduated from School of the Arts High School in San Francisco in 2003 with a discipline in music. She will soon be receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance as of December 2008 along with a minor in Human Development from the University of California Davis. She is also currently still a member of the UCDavis Symphony Orchestra.

Having wonderful teachers throughout the years, she came to realize her own profound interest and dedication to a career in music education, especially with young children. Whether it is playing for leisure or the first steps to professional career, she strongly believes that anyone of any age can learn if they have a passion for music and proper guidance.

As a teacher, she is creative, organized, and encouraging. In the past, her students ranged from age 5 to 50, but all ages are welcome.

Fun facts: She loves cats and dogs, lacrosse, basketball, badminton, racquetball,  tennis, singing, harmonizing, learning new languages, country music, classical music, learning the harp and harpsichord, and much more!

Lesson Details

Instruments: Violin and Piano (Beginner to Intermediate) with Music Theory and Music Appreciation

Violin: Must own or rent a violin for lessons and daily practices.

Piano: Must have a piano/keyboard in home for lessons. (Currently, I do not have a piano at my home.)

Beginner: For the first lesson, I will get to know the student and teach the student to be comfortable with the new instrument. I will continue to adjust according to each student and within three to four lessons, I will successfully be able to determine the right materials required for each student. I can purchase some books if the student agrees to reimburse me. (Receipt will be provided) Please have spiral bound notebook with staff paper by the second lesson at the latest.

Intermediate: For the first lesson, I would like to see and listen to what the student is currently working on (or the last technique, piece etc. studied) and get to assess the student's level and technique. We can continue to work on current pieces or I may suggest a new lesson plan. I will always suggest and sometimes require certain music materials (mostly books), but it will always be in the best interest of the student. I can purchase some books if the student agrees to reimburse me. (Receipts will be provided) Please have a spiral bound notebook with staff paper by the second lesson at the latest.

Patient, encouraging, and organized approach to one on one lessons. Requires each student to own a spiral bound notebook with staff paper and  require sheet music/books.

My students will gain knowledge of techniques, sight-reading, ear-training, theory and much more. Different teaching styles and books will be incorporate according to each student’s level and ability. I do not teach the Suzuki Method, but can teach through the series of Suzuki books among others.

Each week, I will be clear to emphasize what is being taught and what is expected by the next lesson. I am open to questions during lessons and if I do not know the answer, I will make it my upmost priority to find out and inform my student in a timely manner. All my student are guaranteed to have fun and learn and that is really what learning something new should be about, so book your lesson today! Before you know it, you will be showing off your fantastic piano or violin ability to impress yourself and your friends.
