About Me

I grew up in a musical home in the mountains of Northern California.  At the age of five, I  began taking violin lessons and have continued studies ever since.  At the age of twelve, I began traveling to San Francisco to study other styles of violin playing such as bluegrass and jazz with renown violinist, Tracy Silverman.  It was at this time that I began to compose and arrange music for various ensembles at my junior high and high schools.

After graduating high school, I moved to Fullerton to study at Fullerton College. Over the course of my studies, I was a member of the school’s various jazz, string and wind ensembles. I then transferred to Mt. San Antonio College and was a member of the school’s award winning jazz choir, Singcopation.

I have been performing for as long as I have been playing. My first professional gigs began in junior high. I was concert master for the Yorba Linda Symphony Orchestra for their 2003 and 2004 seasons. Most recently I have been playing with a gypsy jazz quartet, performing the music of Stephanne Grapelli and Django Reinhart.

I bring to my lessons a love of the violin and of all music. My goal is to inspire and share my passion with my students the same way my teachers have all done for me. I believe that lessons should be fun as well as educational. I have taught all ages from very beginning to advanced.

Lesson Details

With all students, I believe that it is very important to learn classical violin technique as well as music theory, sight reading, and also how to play by ear. I am very easy going and am open to teaching anything, in addition to the basics, that the student is interested in learning whether it be classical, jazz, fiddle, rock etc. When you know the basics, you can play anything.

Specialties

I teach all styles of violin playing: classical, jazz, bluegrass, rock etc. I am very open to teaching what the student wants to learn.
