About Me

I began playing bass in the fifth grade because no one else wanted to play it.  I played it a lot and got better.  When I was fourteen I started taking classical lessons, learning the instrument and laying down the foundation of basic technique with the bass professor at the University of Missouri; Sue Stubbs.

When I was fifteen I started performing jazz in small ensembles in restaurants and clubs around my hometown.  I played lots of different music in lots of different bands throughout high school and began teaching a few lessons to younger kids on bass and guitar.

After I graduated high school I received a jazz bass scholarship from the University of North Texas and attended the school for three years.  There I studied under many fine bass players and other musicians.

Now I live and play music in Chicago.  Throughout the years I've taken a lot of good lessons and a lot of bad lessons.  I have a great feel for how things should go to help the student feel most comfortable and productive.

Lesson Details

When taking lessons with me, you're in charge.  You decide what you want to learn, how you want to play, and I'll help you the best I can to reach your goal.  If you only know that you want to play and don't what or how, we can work to find something you like and the best way for you to go about it.  I only want to encourage your passion for music and art.  I hope to inspire, encourage, and fan the flames of creativity.
