Dana Mälzner, native of Germany, began her musical training at the Leipzig Opera house as a member of the children's chorus and stayed on for 10 years. While there, she appeared in 18 operas, performing Mustardseed in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the title role in Reinecke’s Dornröschen.
Upon her arrival in the United States, Dana has earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration at the University of Kentucky (2003). In May of 2006, she graduated with a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music. Mälzner has since then appeared with several ensembles throughout the New England area performing opera and sacred works.
I help students to discover their unique voice. In the lesson we will work on exercises that free the voice and eliminate tension in the throat, neck and jaw so that your voice can function freely and effectively. The student goes on a sensory journey discovering the strengths and challenges of their instrument. I will help you find ways to improve range, breath, resonance and other aspects of your singing. Together we will find songs that suit your voice. I will not only teach you good vocal technique but also how to sing with expression and clarity, communicating a story through your song.
Above all I want students to have fun and enjoy singing.
