Lauren P. Violin, Viola, Cello (beginning), Bass (beginning) Bronx, NY

Lauren is 22 years old and is a violinist from the Bronx. Lauren has worked with students ranging from ages 5-17 and has been teaching privately for 5 years. She is currently employed by the New York City Department of Education teaching strings at P.S. 198X. She recently graduated from SUNY Fredonia in 2007 with a B.M. in Music Education, concentration in violin. At Fredonia, Lauren studied violin with Janet Sung and played under the baton of Dr. David Rudge. She was a member of the SUNY Fredonia Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Opera Orchestra (operas performed: "Candide" and "Carmen"). She is a former MENC chapter vice president and is an active advocate for music education. She has participated in various summer festivals such as The Starling/Delay Violin Symposium at Julliard and The Hot Springs Music Festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She is an active performer in various string ensembles in the tri-state area including annual performances at "Bach Fest" in the Hudson Valley and playing concertmaster of the "Evita" pit orchestra for the Holy Trinity Players. Lauren will be pursuing her masters in the Fall at Queens College. In her free time, Lauren enjoys swimming, running, and attending new music concerts.

Students can expect to study scales, etudes, and standard repertoire based on their age and skill level. I require my students to record their practicing daily and reflect on their practice techniques. 

I will soon be starting a Suzuki program.
